A Night Of Adventure
MOTAL - Museum of Teaching and Learning
had a fundraising Event on August 30, 2009 and I was lucky enough to have been invited
along with my son's held at Cal State Fullerton University.
What a wonderful evening, jazz music by Elnora and Sumpthin CookinMark Reiner who is keeping the Film Festival Organization alive and thriving. Came out for Colorado
and brought some wonderful films for us to watch.
Here are some of Jonny Copps' photographs and journerls on display.
We all got to watch Alpinist Jonny Copp explore the long process of making alpine climbing trips a reality-
from the inspiration, throught the training, the partnership and the risk, to the elusive summit - via footage from recent climbs in the Himalayas,Patagonia, Kashmir and other alpine locales.
Longways- 12 min. flim directed by and featured Jonny Copp was shown.
Flying Over Everest -60 min.
by Fabio Toncelli
Flying Over Everest follow the antics and adventures of Angelo D'Arrigo and his efforts to fly a hand glider
over the summit of Mt. Everest. The true story of not only the flight, but also two Himalayan Eagles he raised to fly with him over Mt. Everest.
I can not tell you how much inspiration these films give you, and the passion that each and every person
pours into their dreams and goals to make them a reality.
We left feeling renewed challenged and alive.

CELEBRATING THE BEAUTIFUL LIFE OF JONATHAN COPP
Jonny made to earn his degree in geology from University
Of Colorado at Boulder.
to display his writing, photos, and letters, poems and his personal journals
Jonathan's' Memorial Service Was Held here in California at the Muckenthaler, they had two
more at Colorado one Private and one for the media, my sons were able to attend all three.
It was a 6 hour celebration and I have never seen or experienced anything like it.
Jonathan "Jonny" was born into a life of adventure on March 28, 1974 in Singapore.
In June he was tragically killed by an avalanche while attempting a new route on Mount Edgar
in Sichuaun Province, China.
for the first few years of his life. Jonathan saw the world from the back seat of a pop-up camper as the family took their time traveling westward from Thailand to California.
Jonny founded the internationally-acclaimed Adventure Film Festival in Boulder, CO to provide a platform where adventure filmmaker could share their work.
Jonathan dedicated his life to his loves: his family, his friends, and the mountain peaks forever on the horizon, waiting to be explored. He was the embodiment of the Golden Rule and was larger than life legend that will be deeply missed. Johnthan is survived by his parents, Phyllis
and John Copp and his sister,Aimee.
Jonny lived his dream and is teaching us how to live ours.
Thank you for sharing your gift with us and your motto you set at 16 years old.
Be Kind To Everyone.
Make a stranger a Friend.
Live in the moment and stay in the moment.
You are already missed so much, goodbye our sweet friend.

Mothers Day Love Letter

I just received the most beautiful Mothers Day Gift from my oldest son.
I just had to share this with all the Mothers out there who I know can
appreciate the love of your child.
Hello Mom,
I'm taking this time out to tell you how much you are appreciated.
Unlike college where your work is summarized at the end of the
semester with a letter grade to tell you how you did, or in a work place
setting where an increase in pay or better position informs you how your doing. This letter will serve the purpose of the following examples.
In a review of your job as Mother you have exceeded your duties and have created a great and higher standard that has been unmatched by all Mothers to date. You have set the standard of the definition of a Mother. Your abilities of being a Mother come from a divine innate source which
should be a template for all Mother to follow. You have mastered your position as Mother and yet still find ways of mastering what you have mastered. Your strength grow deep each day like a giant redwood, year
after year becoming a pillar of strength for others to model and admire.
I would like to give your infinite thank yous for being your son and for being such a powerful role model in world that has so few.
Your Son,
Just when you think being a Mother is a thank less job.
Happy Mother's Day to all the hard working Mothers!

Time to Take In the Sights
Have I become so jaded that I don't appreciate the beauty that surrounds
me?
Well I woke up yesterday and there were two ducks in the pool (they come
every year) the dog doesn't even scare them away. They think this is there
home too. I pass by the large bougainvillea and there is a scattering of
little yellow breasted finches in a bit of a panic, that's when I realized
a huge hawk was sitting on top of the fence and making them very nervous.
The best part of my stroll around the property was on the side yard was this
gorgeous white crane.
Then I'm thinking has all this beauty been there or did I finally wake up
and appreciate the beauty that surrounds me.

Kim Kostkas house was on the Fullerton,Ca home tour. It was chosen to be in the
Romatic Homes Magazine. This weekend Kim who is Georgia Hechts' partner at Salt

into a real life doll house. Everywhere you look you would see something new.
Wonderful collections, things from the past, small treasure tucked in a corner.
Kim has a fabulous eye on where something should be placed and what it should
be paired with. Kims' house is a true treasure in Fullerton.
Kim also will come out to your house and rearrange your existing furnishings
and create a space for you without having to completely go out and buy
all new items, she works with what you have and turns your house into a show

pink to a light red, after they are in full bloom they change to a soft light blush
and almost white.
It's like two rose bushes in one it is quite a show!

How Regal is This Guy?
This is my Italian Greyhound, he is a rescue and is quite a handful.
I know he looks very regal and proper, his name is Handsome what else
could it possibly be. He is my third greyhound rescue, I rescued a X racer
a large greyhound and she was soooo mellow. Handsome couldn't be more opposite.
When you look like this I guess you can do whatever you want!
He choose WILD!

Butterflies are Free
My favorite piece of the week! Look at the beautiful butterfly wing in the locket.
The background is a butterfly wing. I was lucky to come across this one quite by
accident really, a woman wanted to sell the necklace and I thought the colors were
pretty and I bought it. Little did I know the iridescent background was a butterfly
wing. It is sterling silver and is signed Pat. Aug. 1924.
I ask you does it get much better than this..... I think not!
The butterfly bowl was my first choice, I was so crazy for the colors and the
patina with the slight crackle from age I knew that bowl was coming home with me.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, she busts out the necklace too!
What's a girl to do?

Great Find!
I have had the pleasure of working one on one with a friend who has been in charge of
helping sell an estate. This is one of the treasures that I had the privilege
of selecting. This is one of the finest rosaries I have seen. Beautiful blue
cut glass beads are cut into a faceted large teardrop, the cross is silver and
has Italy stamped on the back. I love the center metal, at first I thought it was
just a beautiful floral with the enamel dot in the center of the flower, but
it is a real metal with Jesus on the front a religious stamp on the back.
Such a beautiful piece I'm just loving it!

Here is the Woman who makes it all happen!
Sabrina shows me a few samples of her new line of T-Shirts.
My favorite is the one with the wings printed on the back. You can't see
it in the picture but it is really cool! Well maybe you get the idea it
is peeking out a little in the background.

Stray Cats
I also love the sense of community at the market, the local business owners
have their merchandise for sale. I just want to be clear it's not a flee market
or swap meet it is on a much higher scale. Beautiful feathers from Stray Cats
Gilding Lily had wonderful hats, Linda Hayward had a great variety of vintage
french baskets, and bird cages, Monica from Elizabeth Designs had her jewelry
displayed, and then there was one merchant who had vintage sari fabric made in
to wrap around skirts, you can wear them 100 different ways. The are beautiful.
They also give back to India and build water wells with some of the proceeds,
so far 3 wells have been built and are up and running.
Mercantile Update
Sabrina owner of Carpe Diem has put together the most wonderful Market Place.
It has an old world feel, great vendors showing the wonderful vintage wares.
The mix is just perfect I could have spent money with each person, thier was
art work, vintage items, jewelry, home accessories and so much more. Here is a
seek peek at just a few. The Mercantile comes around once a month, the first
Saturday of each month and it is growing. I can't wait to see what next month
brings!

Monumental Moments
I can not tell how proud and happy I feel right know. My son who is now 18 is
graduating from High School! I know as parents that's what your children are
supposed to do. After my son's injury, I didn't know if he would be able to walk
or talk. He has been in special education with our school district since he was
3 years old. With all their wonderful support and services 15 years later we have
come to a milestone beyond my comprehension. Tomorrow is his last day in High School!
He will walk with cap and gown with all the other Seniors. I'm so thankful for
all the people who were involved in his journey through school. They are truly
the unsung heroes.

It's The Small Things
Well I must say I'm a little more than tired today. I took my son to Palm Desert,CA
to a wonderful Doctor. It is about a two hour drive from our home. The appointment
was 7 hours long. I have to tell you not only is he a wonderful Doctor, he knows
how to make a good cup of coffee. When we first arrived he offered to make me a cup of coffee. That was the best cup of coffee I have had in a long time.
He told me his friend gets the beans from Costa Rica, dries them and roasts the beans
in his backyard. That cup or cups of coffee totally made my day! That was so special
to me. With that flavor and blend he could give Starbucks a run for their money.

1920's Beautiful Bride
This woman is so beautiful. I had to make her into a key chain. It would make such
a wonderful gift for bridesmaids or to tie it on a bow of a package. It just beautiful for any occasion.

This is a new design I just posted in my etsy shop. I love how rustic the beads are
and I love that they layer so well together. I am going to sell them as a pair, because I think they would be lost by each other.

Sourcing
This week on Art Talk Radio I talked about sourcing. I took my own
advise and went out to poke around the flee markets. I did find some
wonderful treasures. I got lucky, a woman was closing her spot at an
antique mall and had some wonderful items. I bought a beautiful
french perfume bottle. I just adore it ! I also purchased some old
brass items I can make into a necklace. It was a very eventful weekend
for me I can't wait to start taking apart some of the great pieces and giving them a new life.
